12 / SunRead Galatians 2:20b

Overview: Once you’ve seen all that Jesus is and does for us, perhaps the question to answer is not, “Why should I follow Jesus?” but instead, “Why not? Why not believe? Why not follow Jesus?”

13 / Mon – Why?  |  Read John 4:41 / John 14:10-11

There are those who say why should I believe in Jesus? But flip the question and ask why wouldn’t I believe in Jesus? What are some compelling reasons why you believe in him? Because he proved he was who he claimed to be? Because he did what he said he would do? Because of the ways he has changed your life and the lives of others you know? No other person in history has had a bigger impact on the world than he did. Why wouldn’t someone want to believe in him?

14 / Tue – Take notice  |  Read Philippians 4:19-20

Daily life can become so routine that it blinds people to the blessings the Lord is showering on them. It’s too easy to take things for granted. What helps you notice those everyday blessings? Make a list. Did you wake up alive this morning? Are you breathing right now? Did he provide for you yesterday, and is he meeting your needs so far today? Take note frequently and immediately express your gratitude for what he’s doing for you, in both big and small ways.

15 / Wed – The greatest gift  |  Read Jer 17:9-10 / Jer 17:14 / Jer 17:7

The greatest thing Jesus has done for you is something you maybe didn’t even know you needed. Most people get along in life pretty well. Their hearts tell them they are good people, and the devil is great at reinforcing that. But our hearts can deceive us, as v9 puts it bluntly. It takes the work of the Holy Spirit to show how far we fall short of God’s standard of perfect righteousness that allows us into heaven. Aren’t you glad to know he understood? That love provided a way by crediting us with Jesus’ righteousness, as we trust in him? If he gave us nothing else, that would be enough.

16 / Thu – God’s final promises  |  Read Rev 1:19 and 2:7, 11, 17, 26-29 and 3:5-6, 12-13, 21-23

Take a look at how Jesus ended each message to the seven churches in Revelation. What are specific promises he makes to those who, in the end, are victorious overcomers? Which one(s) most resonate with you today? Are there some that are a challenge for you to believe? How might all these promises change your current perspective and alter your thoughts and/or choices? It’s important to live in the here-and-now but also with an eye on your eternal future.

17 / Fri – Wow!  |  Read Acts 3:1-10 / Luke 1:37

Have you ever seen a miracle, something that seemed impossible, but it actually happened? God loves doing that and probably chuckles over your amazement. It’s not that you don’t believe, but… maybe it is. Have you heard the term too good to be true? Those are the things God delights in doing for His children. What good thing has He unexpectedly done for you recently? How did that increase your appreciation for Him and even make you love Him more?

18 / Sat – Living up to His name  |  Read 2 Thessalonians 1:11

A grandpa once took his grandchildren aside when they were young and said to them: this family name is a good one (i.e., we have built a good reputation), so don’t do anything to dishonor it. God has given you a new name and a new identity. Are you living up to it? What does it mean in practical terms to ‘live a life worthy’? Take time to consider how your life is enhancing God’s name and His reputation among those who do not
