“But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!” – Matthew 14:27 NLT
This is Vacation Bible School (VBS) week at Resurrection church (the verse above is for day 3 of VBS). Our theme this year is “True North: Trusting Jesus in a Wild World.” You may have already seen the cabin and the trees and the mountains decorating the sanctuary. Perhaps you even noticed the eagle’s nest and the bears. I’m sure the children will have a wonderful time learning about the wilderness.
But, of course, the purpose of VBS is not just to have a fun time or to learn about “up north”. The purpose is to help young people learn to trust and follow Jesus. Jesus is our “true north” who guides our way and helps us face whatever this wild world throws at us.
Thank you to all of the many leaders and helpers who make VBS possible. Thank you for those who helped make the decorations and who donated treats. Thank you for inviting your neighborhood kids and family members to VBS. May I make one more request of you? Each day this week will you pray specifically for the children and leaders of True North? Will you pray that they have a fantastic week at VBS? Above all, will you pray that they draw closer to Jesus and learn to trust him?
Have a great week,
Pastor Mark
