“But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” – Luke 18:16 NIV
It’s hard to believe that Vacation Bible School is already over for another year. Thank you to the 45 volunteers who gave your week to love on the children. Your hard work and creativity transformed our church building into a tropical rainforest. Your smiles and guidance helped the children to have a fun and safe week. Even those who donated snacks or paper towel rolls (which became bamboo) contributed to blessing the kids in our community. Your efforts are appreciated. Well done, good and faithful servants!
The week after VBS always feels to me like the week after Christmas. It makes me a little sad when the Christmas lights and decorations come down, and I feel the same way when VBS decorations come down, and the church returns to its previous visual state after having been transformed in such an amazing way for VBS.
Of course, the purpose of VBS is not to transform the church building, but to transform lives. For some kids, perhaps this was their first encounter with Jesus and our church. For others, it was a time to have fun with old friends (and make new ones) as they sang, played, and heard the bible stories. In each case, gospel seeds were planted that can grow in the years to come.
Well, now it’s back to normal, but normal is good, too, at Resurrection. As we normally do, we will celebrate Father’s Day (June 21) with bacon and donuts after worship. See you then.
