07/ Sun –Read 17:14-20
Overview: The examples of our “little faith” in the Bible all share a common thread: they don’t stop Jesus from working. Because what matters most is not the size of our faith, but the size of our God.
08 / Mon – The bottom line | Read Hebrews 11:6
When coming to God, you don’t need to have everything figured out. Just come as you are. In fact, there are only two things you have to believe, according to this verse. What are they? When you can say yes to both, that smidgen of faith is all it takes to open the door. Maybe this is not news to you, but are you acting on it? Also, is there someone in your life who is struggling to connect with God? Pray for opportunities to share this liberating truth with them. What a difference it can make!!
09 / Tue – I can’t even… | Read Mark 9:17-27
What was the desperate man’s request in v22? How did Jesus encourage this frantic and worn-out father in v23? Don’t you just love his honest response in v24? Do you have a long-standing situation that seems unresolvable? Have you prayed long and hard but gotten no answer because you think your faith is too small? Be honest with the Lord. Ask Him to help your faith in Him grow. He loves it when you are humble enough to admit your need, and He will be swift to answer that request.
10 / Wed – When obedience brings you to a dead end | Read Exodus 14:10-19
Have you heard the old saying…out of the frying pan and into the fire? That’s what happened to the newly-freed Israelite slaves. The Red Sea blocked their path to freedom as their enemies closed in from behind. They had followed all the Lord’s instructions, but now they were caught between a rock and a hard place. Do you ever feel like that? God knows and is working behind the scenes to make a way where there seems to be no way. He WILL bring you out on the other side.
11 / Thu – Who are you relying on? | Read 1 Kings 17:7-16
Obeying God demonstrates that your faith is in Him, not in yourself. This widow had come to the end of her resources. What was the result of her obedience? The better you know God’s character, the easier it will be to trust Him in difficult times. What are you dealing with right now? No matter how large or small, no matter how hopeless things seem, will you stop and listen until you know what God is saying to you? He is blessed when you put your whole trust in Him. Amazing things happen when you FROG (fully rely on God). Be fully committed to obeying Him.
12 / Fri – Are you listening or talking? | Read Psalm 42:1-11
Pastor Colin Smith once said, “The problem is that you are listening to yourself when you should be talking to yourself.” This psalm is one example of God’s people doing that very thing. Friends can speak truth to you. But when alone, the enemy takes every opportunity to disguise his words as your own thoughts. Ask the Holy Spirit for discernment, and when you spot a lie or half-truth, talk to yourself out loud to expose the devil’s subtle manipulation. Truth will shatter his power. What does your self need to hear right now?
13 / Sat – God’s track record | Read Ephesians 6:10-18
Who do you trust and why? Often, it is because of their track record. The devil’s driving passion is to destroy your trust in God. He does so by taunting you as you walk through dark valleys and by reminding you of (as-yet) unanswered prayers. How can you counter his ‘truth’ about God? Read the written record passed down through the scriptures. Learn what God says about Himself. Think back over your own life where He brought you through hard times. You don’t see the whole story yet, so don’t let the devil win. Fight back.
