“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” – Isaiah 7:14 NIV
If someone tells you, “That’s different,” it’s usually not a compliment. At least not in Minnesota. In Minnesota it has the same connotation as “Bless your heart” does in the South. It’s a kinder way of saying, “You poor, sad soul. What were you thinking?” However, that is not the way I am using it in this letter.
I want to encourage you to take advantage of something that is both different and wonderful: A Celebration of Christmas with Craig Wasner and friends, Friday, December 5, at 7:00 at Resurrection Church. It’s “different,” so it’s hard to explain. It’s Advent and Christmas music, but not your typical Silent Night and Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It’s scriptures and readings, but not necessarily the ones you’ve heard a thousand times before. It’s different, but not in the Minnesota way. So, I hope you will be able to join us that night. You won’t regret it.
This is also a great opportunity to invite your friends, family, and neighbors. They may be busy with their own activities on Christmas Eve or at their own church on Sundays, but this is a time you can be together. And it’s especially a good time to invite someone who has no church home. The music may touch their souls and draw them to Jesus this year.
God bless you this Advent season,
Pastor Mark
