“On arriving there, they gathered the church together and reported all that God had done
through them…– Acts 14:27a NIV

On All Saints Day, Sunday, November 1, Resurrection United Methodist Church will hold a 170th anniversary celebration. The celebration will include worship, dinner,
a program, and a historical display. I hope you will plan to be there.

In 1856, one year before the City of Hastings was incorporated and two years before Minnesota became a state, the Methodist Church in Hastings was officially formed with 24 charter members. We are one of the oldest Methodist churches in Minnesota. In fact, there are not many congregations of any kind in the state that are older than Resurrection.

So we decided to celebrate God’s faithfulness and the faithful witness of 170 years of the saints of this church by celebrating on All Saints Day. We are in the early planning stages, but here are some ways you can get involved:

  • Save the date and plan to attend.
  • Contact Church Historian Peggy Alsdurf if you are interested in helping with the planning.
  • Share pictures or memorabilia for the slide show or display.
  • Invite people with past connections. If you are in contact with any former members or friends, let them know about the celebration so they can save the date too.

November seems a long way off, but it will be here before we know it. I can’t wait.
