The first day of school is upon us – new backpacks and shoes, packing lunches, school buses on the roads, teachers (both seasoned and new) back at work. And all those students, young and old, filled with nervous excitement, perhaps anxiety and maybe even a little dread. Regardless of how you or your student (of any age) may be feeling, getting an education is a necessary part of life if we are to become contributing members of society.

In the same way, to become mature Christians it is necessary we keep learning through corporate worship, Bible studies, prayer, etc. I remember when I finished reading the Bible for the first time – as a new Christian my first thought was, “What now?!” As much as we may think we know as Christians, there is always more to learn and room to grow! All scripture is inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16-17) and tells us the word of God is alive and powerful (Hebrews 4:12). Every time we read a verse our understanding grows as God reveals Himself in new, different, and often powerful ways.

To help us all experience growth in our spiritual lives, our next message series is titled Back to School – a three-week Bible 101 course beginning on September 12th. This will be a great opportunity for all of us to not only learn something new, but grow closer to God in the process. We hope you’ll join us – and consider inviting a friend, too.

Praying for PEACE and SAFETY as so many head back to school this week. May you enjoy God’s abundant blessings in the week ahead!

Peace in Christ,

Pastor Julie
