We are in the middle of deer season. I always enjoy the hunt, but the best part of deer season is getting together with family on opening day. Everyone shows up at the farm for lunch, even grandma, in-laws and grandkids way too young to sit in a tree stand. It’s kind of like a Thanksgiving dinner. Come to think of it, getting together is the best part of Thanksgiving, too.

This Thanksgiving we have many ways to get together and celebrate with our church family and neighbors. I hope you can join us for one or all of these gatherings:

  • During worship on November 21 there will be special recognition and thanks to Frontline/Essential workers in occupations other than healthcare and education, e.g. food, transportation, delivery, utilities, fire department, law enforcement/corrections, etc., as we continue our Month of Thanks (we will recognize educators the following Sunday).
  • Ecumenical Service of Thanksgiving sponsored by the Hastings Ministerial Association taking place at The Harbor church (11125 Point Douglas Dr, Hastings) on Sunday, November 21, at 4:00 pm.
  • Youth-led Thanksgiving service (+ pie afterwards) at Resurrection on Wednesday, November 24, at 7:00 pm. Come support our youth and hear a message of gratitude from two young preachers.
  • Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Resurrection from 12:00-1:00 pm on Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers are needed. Sign up at: bit.ly/rez-thanksgiving

Last year we could not gather together for Thanksgiving, and I missed it. Looking forward to seeing you this year.
