Big, action packed vacations to exotic places are wonderful, but sometimes it’s nice to take some time off without all the travel and jam-packed itineraries. We spent our recent vacation traveling in Minnesota and Wisconsin just visiting family and doing as we pleased. One day I said we should drive over and visit my cousin Steve on our way to Blue Earth. I asked my mom if she wanted to go with and so we picked her up and had a very pleasant afternoon visiting my cousin.

Two days later I received a call that Steve had died. His health hadn’t been the greatest, but nobody expected that news. I was so glad we got to visit him last weekend. To be honest it’s one of the rare times I actually responded to that little nudging of the Spirit and made the call. Too often someone will come to mind and I’ll think, “I should see them,” or “I should give them a call.” But then I won’t get around to it until perhaps it’s too late.

So my advice to you (and myself) is the next time the Spirit lays someone on your heart and you think you should call them, visit them, or do something for them – just do it. Don’t put it off. My heart is sad that Steve has died, but I am so thankful that we got to see him on our vacation.

God bless your week,

Pastor Mark
