June has arrived, and with it, all those ‘June’ things – graduations, weddings, lawn care, gardening, pool time, the trip up north, and so much more! As Minnesotans, we only have a few months of this warm weather, and so we jump right in.

Of course, June also brings Father’s Day – the day we have set aside to honor the male figures in our life who have made a lasting impact. I think of my own Dad, my brothers, my husband, and many more. And when some of those fathers you’re celebrating are your sons – well the holiday becomes that much more significant! Two of our sons are dads – Cody is dad to Cana and Elias (photos right, middle), and Cole is dad to Lawrence, aka “Larry” (photo, left).

To see your grown children parenting – to watch them grow in those roles, the love they have for their kids motivating every decision, being the loving parent you always hoped they would be – is nothing short of amazing.

I wonder if God feels that way watching us parenting our kids, who are all gifts from God. None of us raise our kids perfectly and none of our kids are perfect – although grandkids come pretty close! But we take our cues from a perfect, loving God.

As we read in Ephesians:

And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

I pray this June is filled with your favorite things – whatever those may be! May you love and be loved, just as we experience the perfect and extravagant love of our God.

We love because God first loved us. – 1 John 4:19

May you enjoy all of God’s abundant blessings this week!

Peace in Christ,
Pastor Julie
