APR 28 / Sunday – Read Luke 24:13-31 / Jer 29:12-13 / 1 Jn 5:15 / John 16:24
Overview: A dead Jesus is the same as no Jesus. But there is a comfort and a peace that surpasses understanding in the Risen Jesus.
29 / Mon – Conversations | Read Isaiah 53:3-4a (NKJV)
Have you ever talked to someone buried at the cemetery? Have you thought “What I wouldn’t give to have one more live conversation with them”? You don’t have to go to his grave to have a conversation with Jesus. You can talk to him anytime, anywhere and know he is listening. Not only can you tell him anything, he understands how you feel. He’s experienced the same human emotions as you… grief, joy, disappointment, anger, excitement, heartbreak. Others may be too busy to listen but he is not. What will you talk to him about right now?
30 / Tue – It’s a two-way conversation | Read Luke 24:13-32
These two disciples were struggling. Jesus listened as they poured out their grief and confusion. Then he spoke and they listened. What tool did Jesus use as he explained what they needed to know? See v 25-27, 32. Have you ever talked to God in prayer, asking questions about things you didn’t understand or for advice on a tricky situation, and later He gave you an answer through what you were reading in the Bible? That is an important way God speaks to His people.
MAY 01 / Wed – He is listening to you | Read Psalm 10:17 / Psalm 116:1-2
Over and over in the Psalms, you will read of people crying out to the Lord. And repeatedly, they affirm that He heard them. What has been your experience? He is called Heavenly Father because He is the perfect father. One who loves His children cares about their needs, struggles, and feelings, and wants them to come to Him with all that concerns them. Do you have a difficult time seeing Him in this way? If so, be honest with Him about it. Ask Him to reveal His heart to you. It will change your perspective on everything.
02 / Thu – Are you listening to Him? | Read Isaiah 30:19-21
Listening is a lost art. There are so many distractions in life. Unfortunately, it also happens when we pray. When we are finished, we often get up and walk away before He has a chance to say anything. What if you asked Him to speak and then you sat quietly waiting? When you leave your prayer ‘closet’ to go about your day, will you still keep listening? He may speak to you at unexpected times and through unexpected people. Be an active listener and see what happens.
03 / Fri – When you don’t know what to pray | Read Romans 8:26-27
At times, life can be confusing and so complicated that you don’t even know what to pray. This is a promise you can claim for yourself. When you ask the Holy Spirit to pray through you, His thoughts will come into your mind and out of your mouth when you pray. Your requests become aligned with God’s will. Peace fills your heart as you give those concerns over to Him. He is listening and will do what is best. You can count on it. What a prayer team you and the Holy Spirit make together!
04 / Sat – Remember and record | Read Psalm 102:18-22
The devil employs insidious faith-busters when he plants doubts in your mind, things like God never or rarely answers your prayers so why bother? God told Moses, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and others to write down what He had said and done. It was recorded to help God’s people remember and have faith in the present and going forward into the future. Why not do that yourself? Think back to all the times God has helped you or answered your requests. Write them down. Add your present concerns and note when they are answered. Soon you will have your own list of faith-builders.
