JUN 22 / Sunday

Overview: This past week, 54 kids descended upon Resurrection to attend VBS each day from 9:00a to noon. And they had a wonderful time and got to see and hear God’s love in action. Wondering what you missed?

30 / Mon – True North when you are wondering…  |  Read John 1:29-31 / Matthew 11:2-5

As rezKIDS trekked through uncharted territory in VBS last week, they learned they can take their questions to Jesus, who is our True North. John’s purpose was to prepare the way for the Messiah, but even he had questions. What message did he send to Jesus in 11:3? Did Jesus rebuke him? Absolutely not! No matter how long you’ve been following Jesus, doubts can creep in. Will you do as John did and ask the Lord directly? You can always trust him to tell you the truth.

JUL 01 / Tue – True North when you are lonely…  |  Read Psalm 25:16-17 / Matthew 11:28-29

Have you gone through situations in life that you could not share with anyone? It’s a lonely place to be. On earth, Jesus carried burdens far heavier than anyone else knew about so he understands completely. You can pour out your heart without reservation and will be met with his compassion and grace. Not only does he listen, he helps you carry on and promises to give you rest. His love is rock-solid. Has there ever been a better friend?

02 / Wed – True North when you feel powerless…  |  Read Matthew 8:5-13

A Roman centurion commanded a unit of 100 soldiers. Whatever he told them to do, they instantly obeyed. That is a lot of power. Yet this centurion was powerless to help his paralyzed servant. It is amazing that he came to Jesus with his request because he was one of the enemies who had conquered God’s people. Some would say he wasn’t worthy. Yet he had more faith in Jesus than many of the Jews to whom Jesus preached. When you face situations you cannot fix, will you let this man’s example inspire you to trust God’s compassion and His willingness to help?

03 / Thu – True North when you need hope…  |  Read Matthew 12:21 / Romans 15:13

After following Jesus for several years, listening and watching, his disciples had learned to trust him. He had made many promises but then he let himself be killed, even though they knew he had the power to prevent it. The gospels are silent about what his disciples went through in the hours following his death, their confusion, sorrow and shattered hopes. Are you in that place right now or maybe you know someone who is? Ask the Lord to restore hope. He absolutely will!

04 / Fri – True North when you need help…  |  Read Matthew 28:20b / Matthew 7:7-8

Life is full of exciting adventures when you are following Jesus but sometimes what he asks is very hard, even seemingly impossible. But here is the good news – you are not doing it by yourself. The Lord helped David to defeat Goliath, Noah to build the ark and Moses to deliver his people. In a foreign country, three young men put God first and He joined them in the fiery furnace. Do you need a reminder today? When you ask, seek and knock, everything you need will be provided. Where might this apply in your life right now?

05 / Sat – True freedom  |  Read John 8:34-36 / 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 / Philippians 4:8

Yesterday we celebrated the independence that our forefathers gained 249 years ago, but this freedom was not free. They had to fight to keep it. Jesus’ death and resurrection paid the debt and set you free from slavery to sin but you need to stand guard. Your old master wants you back and will do everything he can to recapture you by infiltrating your mind. Will you fight back today by observing your thoughts and then replace any lies or half-truths with God’s whole truth?
