FEB 23 / Sunday – Read Read Isaiah 46:10 (NLT) / Jeremiah 29:11 / 2 Peter 3:8
Overview: Worried about the future? Many do, but God’s already seen it with perfect clarity and lets us know that the future will turn out well for his followers. While we can’t see into the future, can we trust the one who can?
24 / Mon – The Future | Read Jeremiah 29:11
It is interesting the way God created us to remember the past and be conscious of the present but He keeps the future shrouded. Consider why He would do so. Can you see any benefits of a hidden future? Think about now…are you excited about the possibilities ahead or worried about what will happen next? Just remember, God has it already planned out and it is good in His eyes. Very good. Will you let this knowledge bring peace as you face the unknown?
25 / Tue – Puzzling | Read Ephesians 2:10 New King James Version
At times, life can seem like putting a jigsaw puzzle together but without the picture on the box top. Some pieces are easy to connect and you see a segment that makes sense. In other areas, a lot is missing and some pieces don’t seem to fit anywhere. It can be disconcerting in life, except for this one fact. The One who created you has the complete picture. When He is done, everything will fit together perfectly. Will you trust Him? He knows what He is doing, even if you do not.
26 / Wed – Simultaneous in past, present, and future | Read Rev 1:8 / Ps 139:7-10
One quality of our amazing God is His omnipresence. It means He is everywhere at the same time. He is at the beginning, at the end, and concurrently everywhere in between. It is hard to understand because we are time-bound. When you are troubled about your future, remember this. Just as God was in your past and is in your present, He’s already in your future. How might this truth help you walk calmly ahead to meet tomorrow’s challenges? You are never, at any time, alone. Never.
27 / Thu – Withholding information | Read Deuteronomy 29:29
Responsible parents only share information appropriate for their child’s understanding. Your heavenly Father knows what you can handle and what you cannot. Out of His kindness, He keeps some things from being revealed until the right time. You may have already experienced this in your relationship with Him. When things happen that you do not understand, will you trust His good heart and His perfect plan and timing?
28 / Fri – God’s future for you | Read Rev 21:1-7 / Gen 2:8-10, 16-17 / Rev 22:1-3a
While you cannot know what is directly ahead, you can still be sure of your ultimate future. God loves you so much He wants you to live with Him forever. See what He has prepared for you in Rev 21-22. Now look back to Eden in Gen 2:8-10. What two things stood in the center of that garden? What rule did God make? Compare it to Eden restored in Rev 22. What is the difference? Life is short when compared to eternity. Will you keep temporary challenges in perspective by remembering the forever future awaiting you?
MAR 01 / Sat – No unfinished business | Read Psalm 139:16 / Philippians 1:6
One of the most concerning matters for many people is their immediate future, especially the end of physical life. God has already taken care of the matter. Before you were born, He set your birth date and how many days you would live. You may not know when Jesus will come to get you at the end (Jn 14:1-3) but in God’s kindness, He makes sure everything important is accomplished by then. Jesus’ resurrection took away the sting of death for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (Paul). Until that time, will you listen and do as the Lord directs?
