APR 07 / Sunday – Read John 20:24 / Hebrews 7:21-25 / 1 Corinthians 15:17 & 20
Overview: Why should we care about the Resurrection? Because we want guarantees, and the Resurrection is the guarantee we can trust in the promises of God.
08 / Mon – Implications | Read I Corinthians 15:17, 20
Many skeptics do not believe that Jesus physically rose from the dead. Why do you think they don’t? In no other religion did its leader make such audacious claims – to be the Son of God, to be able to forgive sins, to die and rise again. What would life be like if these things didn’t really happen? Paul lays out the sad implications. But Jesus did rise from the dead (see evidence in v 3-8). So what difference does that make for you today? How does the resurrection give credence to all the other promises God has made in His word?
09 / Tue – A rock-solid promise | Read Deuteronomy 31:8 / Jeremiah 29:13
God promised many times in the Bible that He will never leave us or forsake us. But has life ever made it seem He is far away from you? Circumstances can leave one feeling all alone, but we are not. Although people might abandon you, when God says he will never forsake you, He means never. But do we drift away from Him? Have you? God wants you to seek Him with all your heart, and you will surely find Him, always.
10 / Wed – Another promise you can count on | Read Proverbs 3:5-6 / Psalm 32:8
“Trust me.” When a person says this, it can cause red flags to go up in our minds. But sometimes despite this, we listen anyway, only to have our trust betrayed and find ourselves in a mess and full of regret. God is the only one you can trust completely and always. Have you heard Him prompting and guiding you? What happened when you listened and followed His words and paths? Or when you didn’t? There are no red flags, and He means it, when He says, “Trust Me.
11 / Thu – We all need this one | Read Matthew 11:28-30
One of the truest things about life is that it isn’t easy. Taking up Jesus’ yoke will not change that, but it will make life easier to take. He will walk beside us and lovingly guide us with the burdens we carry. He is a refreshing, deep breath of air when our situations are overwhelming us. What is heavy and burdensome in your life? You have His blessed assurance that He will calm your soul if you let Him. Will you turn over your hardships, anxiety, and concerns to Jesus?
12 / Fri – A wealth of promises are yours | Read 2 Peter 1:3-4 / Philippians 1:6
Promises give us hope, especially when experience shows the person making them is trustworthy. Not only is God faithful to keep His promises but Peter gives a new dimension to those promises. Do you feel at times that you are failing to live a godly life? It is one of the devil’s greatest joys to point out your failures, hoping you’ll give up. Don’t. God has started something in you and He will complete it. In the meantime, what promises anchor you in the process? Commit them to memory. They will be your ammunition when doubts flood in. You don’t have to put up with them.
13 / Sat – When you don’t see clearly | Read 2 Peter 3:9
It is one thing to trust God’s promises. It is quite another to keep trusting when the fulfillment of a promise is delayed. Or when it comes in a different form than you expected. Peter reminds us that there are always good reasons for God’s ‘delay’ and that His plans and promises will never fail. God alone sees the big picture and knows the best timing. You know His heart is good, that His plans are the best and that He is worth trusting. As you wait, will you continue to say “I trust you, Lord”?
