“The eyes of the Lord your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year.” – Deuteronomy 11:12 NKJV

I have worn the same pair of glasses since 2012. Unbelievably, I haven’t broken or lost them. But now I have reached the stage where I “see through a mirror dimly.” Not only do the scratches obscure my vision, but my eyes have changed enough where I need to get a new prescription. I probably should have done it last year, but I put it off and now am suffering the consequences of not seeing clearly. This will be the year that changes. I’m going to get new glasses and start seeing better.

Our winter sermon series (Eye of God) is about seeing things better – seeing things the way God sees them. When we look at things from God’s perspective we find clarity. Decisions become easier. Challenges become less challenging. And life becomes more joyful. We’ll begin the series on January 12 and continue right up until Lent begins on March 5.

Now, I need to make an appointment to see my eye doctor. Fortunately for me, that’s easy because my eye doctor is my son, Cory. But seeing things through God’s eyes is even easier. Just join us in person or online this winter as we see what God’s Word has to say about God’s view of things.

In Christ,

Pastor Mark

Correction: In last week’s letter, I mentioned that my 2025 calendar of ugly native fish included a picture of a carp. But carp are not native – they are an invasive species. The picture was actually that of a native buffalo fish.
