Before I moved to Hastings, I was the district superintendent of the North Star district. Each fall I would visit the district churches that were scattered across half the state of Minnesota, from Ely in the north to Ortonville in the south. Typically, I chose to start visiting the churches on the Canadian border the second week of September and then work my way south. If the weather cooperated, I would hit the peak fall colors in each area, giving me at least of month of brilliant yellows, oranges and reds. It was a lot of driving, but I’ll always treasure seeing such beauty.

Fall has always been my favorite season. The greens of summer are nice. The snowscapes of winter can be spectacular. But in my mind, nothing compares to the colors of fall. Add in the cooler temperatures, a fresh picked apple or two, and the return of Wednesday dinners and other church activities, and fall just can’t be beat. It’s my favorite.

This fall I’ll be preaching on another favorite of mine – Jesus Christ. The bible is full of interesting persons, like Peter who we looked at this past summer. But for me the best person by far is Jesus. Others are good. He is better. So as the song goes, “Let me tell about my Jesus” this fall. The best stories, about the best person, for the best season.

Have a wonderful fall,

Pastor Mark

While I was with you, I decided to deal with only one subject – Jesus Christ, who was crucified.  – 1 Corinthians 2:2
