“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” – Isaiah 43:19 NIV

I love calendars, the big paper kind with pictures you hang on the wall. My go-to calendars are the free ones you get at Fleet Farm with scenic pictures of places in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Of course, I have a church-related calendar, plus a few with animals on them. I even have a 2025 calendar of ugly native fish such as carp, sturgeon, and northern hogsuckers.

Sure, I have a calendar feature on my phone, but there is nothing quite so satisfying as opening a new calendar to January and hanging it on the wall. It speaks to me of possibilities and fresh starts. No matter what happened in 2024, no matter how many things I failed to get done or how many problems I faced, the new calendar says, “It’s a new year. Forget about the past. See what God has in store for you now.”

You may have long ago switched to keeping your calendar electronically, but the call of the new year is still the same: “Come see what God has in store.”

Happy New Year!

Pastor Mark

Make sure to put some of the new things in store at Resurrection this January on your calendar, from the new sermon series “Eye of God” to the Yakov Smirnoff comedy events to the new book study “Boundaries”. Enjoy what 2025 has to bring!
