“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.– Romans 12:18 NIV

I am surprised that not once during the recent string of 90-degree weather did I hear someone ask, “Hot enough for you?” You know that whenever someone says that they are not really asking a question, because the answer is always, “It’s too hot!” It has been too hot around here in July.

But not all “heat” is due to the weather. We can have heated arguments. We can become hot-tempered. Our political conflicts can boil over into hatred. We can feel the heat when we are under pressure. And we can become overheated and burned out by burning the candle at both ends. These things are all as uncomfortable as a 105-degree heat index.

When it’s hot outside you can always go into the air-conditioning. But what do you do when it’s hot in other areas of your life? The bible has some answers on how to “cool off.”  Check out the short, three-week sermon series “Dog Days” in August to find out more. (Hint: Start with Romans 12:18).
