31 / SunRead Proverbs 1:1-7

Overview: We recognize our high school senior graduates, sharing some gleaned biblical wisdom that applies to all of us. It’s sage advice for living a good and fulfilling life today, and in the years ahead.

JUN 01 / Mon – The source  |  Read James 1:5-6 / Proverbs 3:5-6

Do you ever look back on your life and wonder at some of the stupid decisions you made? They may have seemed right at the time but as you think about the results, do you sometimes wish you could get a do-over? It is rarely possible. But you can learn from those experiences and do better in the future. It starts by recognizing that you lack wisdom and going to the source…your all-wise Father in heaven. He will give generously. Where do you need wisdom today?

02 / Tue – Two kinds of wisdom  |  Read James 3:13-17

Do you know someone wise and understanding? How did you come to that conclusion? James describes two kinds of wisdom and how to differentiate one from the other. What is the result of earthly ‘wisdom’? Can you think of some examples you have noticed around you? Look again at the description of godly wisdom. Could these characteristics change the way you react to difficult people in your life?

03 / Wed – Not so-hidden treasures  |  Read 2 Timothy 3:16 / Proverbs 1:1-3

You know that all scripture is God-breathed and will teach, rebuke, correct, and train you in God’s ways. For example, the book of Proverbs is a treasure chest, filled with precious jewels of wisdom. To access this wisdom treasure, try reading a chapter of Proverbs each day. Ask the Lord to give insights on how you can grow to be a wiser person. Write them down to help you remember. Will you try this experiment? It’s not too late this month to get started. God can do a lot in 31 days.

04 / Thu – Wise sayings #1-6  |  Read Proverbs 22:17-29

Proverbs is a collection of wisdom from King Solomon and others. A section in the middle is called 30 Sayings of the Wise (unknown authors). Read the first 6 and then jot down something you want to think about today.

05 / Fri – Wise sayings #7-19  |  Read Proverbs 23:1-35

Take a look at these next wise sayings from the collection of 30. What caught your attention? Why? How could it apply to your life?

06 / Sat – Wise sayings #20-30+  |  Read Proverbs 24:1-22 and 23-34

Here are the final 11 wise sayings, plus some postscripts to consider. Which one(s) does the Holy Spirit seem to personalize for you? What actions will you take as a result?
