“T he Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” – Genesis 2:15 NIV
My grandmother was born on June 25, 1894.
She had one son. He had four sons (including me).
I have three sons and four grandsons.
On April 12, 2026, our granddaughter Harriet Rae Miller was born.
Finally, 131 years and 291 days later, I can say, “It’s a girl!” What a wonderful blessing.
Whether a child is a boy or a girl, each one is precious. And Jesus welcomed them all. He still does. Jesus still says, “Let the children come to me.” Each summer, we welcome granddaughters and sons, neighbor kids, and nephews to VBS (Vacation Bible School) so they can spend some time getting to know Jesus, plus have a lot of fun.
This year, VBS is earlier than usual (June 8-12), so we are already working to build the volunteer teams, make decorations, and invite the children. It takes many hands to have a successful VBS, and the children could use someone like you to help make it happen. From station leaders to snack prep, games, crafts, and photography, if you are willing to bless the children at VBS, then we can find a role that fits you. And, of course, we always need your prayers for both the children and the volunteers.
This year’s theme is Rainforest Falls: Exploring the Nature of God. If you have some tropical-looking artificial trees/plants we could borrow to build our rainforest, that would be wonderful. And we could also use volunteers on May 6, 6-8 pm, to help prep the decorations and put together the craft kits. Wow…it takes a lot to put on VBS, but it’s worth it because the kids are worth it.
Sign up to volunteer online or in the foyer at church. Thanks for your help.
