“God did this because he wanted you Gentiles to understand his wonderful and glorious mystery. And the mystery is that Christ lives in you, and he is your hope of sharing in God’s glory.” – Colossians 1:27 CEV
Our hope comes from Christ living within us. And it is through Christ that we are able to offer hope to others. We offer hope when we proclaim the gospel in word and song during worship. We offer hope when we love our neighbors and care for our friends. And we offer hope when we meet the needs of persons across the globe and right here at home.
Our one big push for mission giving at Resurrection UMC is the annual Easter offering we call Be the Hope. 30% goes to Zoe Empowers, which works with orphans in Africa. 30% goes to Hastings Family Service to support persons in need in our community. 30% stays here to support scholarships for our youth ministries. The remaining 10% is used to respond to emerging mission needs, such as disasters. Last year, we raised $15,408 for Be the Hope.
Be the Hope is one way we can follow in the footsteps of Jesus, who is the ultimate hope of the world. Thank you for helping to provide hope in Jesus’ name.
Pastor Mark
Note: Contributions can be made to Be The Hope throughout the year (rezumc.org/give), but gifts given by Easter Sunday will have the Hastings Family Service portion matched through the MN FoodShare March campaign.
