Greetings! As most of you know by now, I have accepted a new appointment as the lead pastor at First UMC of Red Wing, to begin July 1, 2024. Of course, there is grief in saying goodbye to this amazing community of faithful followers of Jesus Christ. It was at Resurrection that I first embraced the Methodist traditions and where I became a born-again Christian. I’ve been attending Resurrection since 1991 and have been on staff here since 2008, first hired as the Director of Children & Family Ministry, and then also becoming your associate pastor through the United Methodist Licensed Local Pastor process.
In addition to the grief, however, there is also excitement and joy! Over the past six months, it is apparent that God has beautifully and miraculously orchestrated all these events to prepare us (Dan and me) for this moment – what an awesome God we serve!
In my remaining two months at Resurrection, there is much to do – including pulling off an amazing VBS the last week in June. I ask that you please be in prayer for my replacement – someone who loves God, loves kids, and is excited to work towards fulfilling the rezKIDS vision to “help connect the heart of a child to the heart of God.” We plan everything we do in rezKIDS with that vision in mind. An important note here – we are not looking for an associate pastor, we are looking for a new Director of Children & Family Ministry, the role for which I was originally hired. If you or someone you know is interested, please have them apply by contacting the church office or online.
Lastly, I want to assure you that my husband, Dan, is staying at Resurrection 😉. Please be in prayer for both of us, as we will be spending a whole lot LESS time together, and it will be an adjustment. We love doing ministry together and we make a great team, so this will be difficult for both of us.
I thank you with all that I am for your support and encouragement, for your friendship and guidance, and for your love. There are simply no words to express my gratitude and the love I have for all of you!
Shalom!
Pastor Julie
