See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come. — Song of Songs 2:11
We thought it would never come, but spring is here at last. Enjoy the green grass, the warm air, the sunshine and flowers. They are a blessing from God. And while spring may be delayed – this year we are about 3 weeks behind – it never fails to come.
In fact, God promises that in Genesis 8. After the flood waters have receded and Noah is back on dry land, he builds an altar to the Lord. In responses to Noah’s sacrifice God says there will never again be such a flood and “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”
So enjoy the spring and its reminder of God’s faithfulness. Just as spring never fails, God never fails. The song “One Thing Remains” has these lyrics: “Your love never fails. It never gives up. It never runs out on me.” Every warm spring breeze, every smell of flowers, every puffy cloud is a testimony to the unfailing, unchanging nature of God. Great is God’s faithfulness!
Spring is here. The season of singing has come. Let us praise the Lord!
