“The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others.” – 1 Corinthians 12:7 CEV
For the past few years, Resurrection has been using the line “God could use someone like you.” Do you believe it? Sometimes we are tempted to look at another person’s gifts and passions and compare ourselves with them. We think, “Surely God can use them, but I’m not so sure about me.”
Pastor Julie is a good example of this. People have asked, “How can we ever replace Pastor Julie?” The short answer is, “We won’t.” Nobody is just like Julie, with her creativity, her pastoral calling, and her years of experience. So, while we aren’t looking to replace Pastor Julie, we are looking for the next person God wants to lead rezKIDS to help fulfill its mission of connecting the heart of a child to the heart of God.
And maybe God could use someone like you in that role. You don’t have to be a pastor or a mom. Julie is those things, but perhaps God can use who you are to do great things as well. Pray about it. Or, if not you, then perhaps it’s somebody you know. Encourage them to pray about it. The job description and application are available online.
Pastor Julie didn’t start off the person she is today. But she said “yes” to using her gifts for God, and that has changed her life. God could use someone like you, too. If not as Director of Children and Family Ministry, then in some other way. Do you believe God could? I do.
Pastor Mark
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they all come from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve the same Lord, and we can each do different things. Yet the same God works in all of us and helps us in everything we do. The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others. – 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 CEV
